From Concept to Canvas

Rooted in the Okanagan

After moving to the Okanagan in 2004, Shier has drawn creative energy from its orchards, vineyards, lakes, and semi-arid landscapes. His experience as an architect shapes the structure and perspective of his Canadian oil and acrylic paintings, refined through workshops and international study.

Art that Explores Nature & Humanity

Shier’s paintings blend signature landscapes with subtle human touches — a modest structure, a mountain path, a solitary figure. Using line, shape, colour, and texture, he captures the essence of his subjects, revealing the beauty of the world we see, and the one we pass by.

Influences & Approach

Inspired by both Post-Impressionism and Fauvism, Shier employs expressive colour and textured brushwork to move beyond imitation toward experience. As a Canadian oil painter, he invites viewers to pause, reflect, and connect with what endures.
